Lan Lan

Founder

Meditation and reflection gave her insight of her childhood focused on conventional courses that limited her creativity. She thought to herself, not every child has to be great at math, but they should have the tools to manage their emotions. Lan Lan noticed that children are impressionable and are constantly receiving new information from their surroundings. With a passion to empower kids to unlock their full potential, she designed Lan Lan Yoga to guide children to find mindfulness. She believes that with playful exercises and open discussions, all participants can discover their inner peace for lifelong success.

Lan Lan navigated her way into the competitive environment of trading in the New York Financial Industry, where she handled high profile multibillion-dollar trade books. The risk of costing her clients millions of dollars put a lot of pressure on her. When suggested to try yoga by a veteran in the industry, Lan Lan found inner peace through physical poses and a spiritual awakening from introspection.

I am originally from Columbia and I currently live in the United States. I had a degree in graphic design in 2013 and have worked for several different magazine and book companies in diverse aspects, such as architecture, design, home, and art. I have been working with an amazing company, Lan Lan Yoga, for approximately three months. I am fascinated by colors, typography, photography, and the history of art and architecture. I expect to develop myself into a digital world, by working on web pages and applications. In my free time, I enjoy cooking and making desserts. I love going to the cinema and roaming around the city. I am also interested in art and culture that’s why I am a big fan of museums. I think museums are a great place for learning how our ancestors lived and expand our minds. I love working with kids!

Jocelyn is a certified children’s yoga instructor, and received her certification from Yo Re Mi. She has been practicing yoga since she was 16, and has a commitment to sharing the juice of a yummy yoga practice with children and their families. For Jocelyn, yoga has been completely instrumental in her abilities to sit with her innermost experiences and feelings, and is a perfect access to self-love. She has always been passionate about educating children, and has been teaching children of all ages in many different disciplines for over five years. She has experience as a music and drama instructor, voice teacher, and preschool teacher. She currently works as a Montessori Preschool Guide, and strongly believes that when given proper guidance, children become confident, self-managing, responsible citizens of the world. She has also worked as the director of programs for children and their families to empower them to fulfill their visions of the future.

As a classically trained opera singer with a degree in Voice Performance, she loves to incorporate music and sound healing into her yoga practice, especially with children. Her favorite yoga classroom tools include, but are not limited to, Sheila the ukulele, Kurt Franklin the rainbow mini-guitar, a gorgeous hand-made tank drum, and tibetan singing bowls. When she’s not teaching or making a difference out in the world, you can find her baking sugar cookies, sunbathing on the roof of her Brooklyn apartment, or making watercolor portraits.

Brain Resource’s Neuroscientific Consensus identifies 4 core capacities of the brain: Emotion, Feeling, Cognition, and Self Control. Lan Lan Yoga’s curriculum could enhance these elements for children to maximize their capabilities, expanding children to face more challenges and prepares kids to overcome obstacles

A lot of children in this program... get angry so fast... a lot of parents don’t know how to control it or are unable to control it, so this is why I recommend these kids to the program. We had a breakthrough with one of the students.
